a frozen jayhawk

This is an AP image collected on Christmas Eve on the campus of my beloved alma mater to the west in Lawrence. Unfortunately, it was uncredited... so I do not know whose work it is, but it pretty much sums up the past 24 hours.
.
.
When all was said and done, we ended up with only about eight inches... but there is a healthy glaze of ice beneath it and there has been significant wind and drifting. Just maybe... tomorrow we'll actually try to leave the house...
.
Christmas plans with family were foiled by Mother Nature... but it wasn't all bad. There was napping. And champagne. And the same Christmas dinner originally planned... just downsized a bit. And the aroma of fresh-from-the-oven cookies wafting through the house. And a warm kitty snoozing in my lap. And a good book. And a cozy blanket. And more napping.
.
Merry Christmas, Everyone! May the hope, love and good will that is this season stay with you throughout the new year to come...

  1. Sounds like you had a lovely day despite the crummy weather. I think today (Sunday) will be our day to stay in and snuggle with a furry friend and a good book.

  2. It was lovely, Kathy. Hopefully you're having that kind of a day today! Both Ed and I went out and spent two hours on the walks and driveway. Can't imagine what it was like digging out of your place!
