I'm not quite sure how it started in 2003, but it did... and it has been a tradition that we've continued each year since.
Turning back the clock... my friend Jenn and I got stuck on the letter B for some reason as the calendar page turned to 2003. At that time we were talking about going to Barcelona for the upcoming Olympic Games. For whatever the reason (can't remember why now), we did not end up going to Barcelona, but we thought it would be fun to make 'B' the focus of the year. We biked... a lot.
There is no real rhyme or reason for landing on the letter for the year - it usually happens very serendipitously. Since the 2003 B-year, we've had M, F, C, S, and O years. Jenn turned Fabulous Forty during the F-year... the S-year focused on Service (Ed was deployed), and the 2008 O-year focused on Order (as in getting your life in order... many of you reading this know of the specific relevance of this).
Over a cuppa yesterday, Jenn and I decided that 2009 will be a P-year... with the theme of the year being to PRIORITIZE. What is really important to you? What do you want more of -or less of- in your life? This is to be a year of trimming the phat. May 2009 be a year filled with peace, prosperity, and passion for life. Remember... it really is all about the love.

You forgot the 'M' year...when you married that cute soldier of yours.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember eating beignets? At the 'B' party?
P's good.
ReplyDeleteI like P.
A toast to P.
Bring it on P.
Precisely! Perhaps prioritizing put into perspective pondering points.
ReplyDeleteToo funny, Kathy... you win the p-p-p-prize! :-)
ReplyDeleteHow about purpose??
ReplyDeleteI've added it to the side bar, Cindy!
